Contenuto

An understanding of the "Norma Vitae", in terms of faithfulness to the past and a projection towards the future with the aim of realizing what God asked of St. Francis of Assisi rather than keeping it as a sterile memory, was the impulse that catalyzed the period immediately following the death of St. Francis, but which also constitutes the tension each generation including ours, has felt since then. Is it possible to gather useful indications concerning the projection of this difficult inheritance into the future from a source written at the time (Vita II by Tommaso da Celano)? Is it possible to understand from the steps taken by that first generation of Franciscans which are the fundamental values to be conserved as opposed to those which were only transient and could be abandoned along the way in order to make faster progress? This research attempts to answer these and other questions
